VZT: How did
you get started in the travel industry?
I started out working in the motor coach industry arranging group tours
VZT: Okay – so
how long have you been in the position you are now?
I have been a travel agent for 10 years and with Van Zile for 4 years
VZT: Where
have you been and what is your favorite destination?
I am a beach person. I have been to most of the Caribbean islands and
Mexico. A few years ago I traveled to Ireland which was wonderful. And I
have been to every state in the US except Maine, North and South Dakota.
My favorite destination is Jamaica. I love the food, the people, and the
beautiful beaches.
VZT: What is
the strangest thing that has happened to you at work?
When I was in the motor coach business, I had a call requesting a bus to
Hawaii. They could not understand that the bus could not drive there.
They just knew Hawaii was part of the US and should be able to drive
there. I suggested flying and explained that it took approximately 12
hours to fly. They said it was OK they planned on taking several days to
get there anyway. They were afraid to fly and wanted to take a bus.
VZT: What do
you do with your free time?
I love to play the piano. I enjoy gardening and anything outdoors.
VZT: And now
– how about the personal info?
I am married with 3 children, a son and a set of twins. They are all
adults now and have turned into great friends. Life is good.
VZT: Words of
wisdom?
What I have learned is but a handful of earth. What is left unlearned is
the earth itself.
