Interview with Diane Baker

VZT:  How did you get started in the travel industry?
I went to college for travel and tourism, and once my degree was finished I got hired at Van Zile Travel.

VZT: Okay – so how long have you been in the position you are now?
I have been a corporate travel consultant for 7 years at Van Zile, and have recently been promoted to Account Manager.

VZT: Where have you been and what is your favorite destination?
I have been to London, California, Chicago, Canada, and all up and down the East Coast. My favorite destination is a remote cottage owned by a friend in Canada on Kawagama Lake. You can only get there by boat, and it is the most relaxing place I have ever been to.

VZT:  What is the strangest thing that has happened to you at work?
One day when I was leaving work I had a stand off w/ Geese that were surrounding my car. They wouldn’t let me get anywhere near it w/ out charging, so that was pretty crazy. I must have looked pretty funny to on lookers as well!

VZT:  What do you do with your free time?
I hang out w/ friends and family, read, watch movies, and relax. I am pretty laid back in my personal life.

VZT:  And now – how about the personal info?
I am single, and enjoying every day as it comes.

VZT: Words of wisdom?
If your flight shows that it is delayed, still show up to the airport as if it was leaving on time. I have had clients that get to the airport based on what the estimated time of departure is if a flight is delayed, and they have missed their flights. Sometimes the airlines speed up the departure times on delays based on numerous reasons.
