Interview with Amy Parsels |

VZT: How did you get started in the travel industry? I started out working at the Avis Call Center in Tulsa, OK and worked my way through several departments there. I was with Avis for almost 9 years. VZT: Okay – so how long have you in the position you are now? I had just moved here and my sister-in-law, who works here had mentioned that VZT was hiring. I actually had been somewhere else and it didn’t go as planned, so I stopped by VZT and did an interview on the spot and took all the tests. I think I grabbed the last spot in the class. VZT: Where have you been and what is your favorite destination? Can I say Tulsa? I go there more than anywhere else. I have to admit, I have not been to nearly as many places as I should have, but I’m working on it. I do love NYC, though and it’s a place I never thought I’d go. VZT: What is the strangest thing that has happened to you at work? When I was still at Avis, the tornado alarm in the building was going off. I told a caller that I’d have to let her go and asked her to call back later. She told me I was better off just staying on the phone with her. I don’t think that she knew too much about tornadoes and I did release that call. VZT: What do you do with your free time? We go to a lot of different places for sporting events. Nearly every trip we take has to include a baseball or a football game. I also love reality TV, reading, cooking, and theater. VZT: And now – how about the personal info? I have been married to Steve for 7 years and I have a 16 year old son, Jeremy. I also have a dog named, Shaye. VZT: Words of wisdom? If you’re wavering between two flights, I say book the later one. Better to try standby for the earlier flight and not get it, than to miss the earlier flight and have the later flight be sold out. |
