Sales Representative

 

Position Summary

Van Zile Travel (VZT), a well respected, nationwide, travel management company known for its unparalleled, high touch, service-first approach to meeting customer needs, is seeking a full-time Sales Representative to join a team of high performing professionals. The role of the Sales Representative is both strategic and operational in nature and encompasses the following:

·         Managing the entire sales process

·         Identifying and analyzing wide-ranging new business opportunities

·         Securing new accounts and driving revenue growth for the company

·         Further diversifying the existing customer base

·         Delivering results consistent with the company’s strategic goals and objectives

The Sales Representative reports directly to the company Vice President of Corporate Operations.

 

Primary Responsibilities

·         Work hand-in-hand with the company Vice President to create and implement
      aggressive business development plans

Þ     Identify new business opportunities (e.g., customers, geographies)

Þ     Keep the pipeline full (i.e., from cold calling to pipeline management)

Þ     Secure/close new business

Þ     Deliver results (i.e., drive revenue growth, increase profitability)

·         Proactively sell VZT business travel services to different market segments

Þ     Corporate Travel Management

Þ     Meeting and Incentive Planning Services

Þ     Group Air

·         Foster and develop excellent relationships with prospects to establish and
      differentiate VZT as a service leader

Þ     From getting on relevant RFP lists to forming strategic partnerships

·         Manage a flawless hand-off of all closed customers to the VZT Business Account
      Manager

·         Responsible for understanding and managing costs as associated with the value
      proposition of each sale’s potential for closings

·         Ensure that the company is actively pursuing opportunities that will deliver the
      greatest value to the organization

 

Education, Experience and Skills Required

Experience

·         BA/BS in marketing, business administration or a related field

·         A background in solutions selling (i.e., trust-based vs. commodity sales) is required

·         Diligence and perseverance to handle long-term lead generation efforts through
      outbound prospecting cold calling

·         Knowledge of the travel industry beneficial but not required

·         Proven track record for consistently delivering results

·         A risk-taking, entrepreneurial spirit coupled with a strong work ethic

·         Motivated, independent self-starter

·         Superior professional presence and business acumen

·         Ability to see the “big picture” and prioritize appropriately

·         Able to secure and manage medium to large accounts – and successfully achieve
      results (i.e., a “big game hunter” not a “farmer”)

·         Exceptional networking skills with the ability to develop relationships across relevant
     associations/professional groups to drive new business

·         Able to motivate, inspire and champion ideas

·         Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, negotiating and influencing
      abilities

·         Ability to network across relevant associations and trade professionals to secure
      business

·         Strong, customer-focused orientation

·         Action-oriented, diligent and proactive; continuously displaying a sense of urgency

·         Strong commitment to company values and a hands-on team player

·         Ability to work effectively in a privately held business

·         Must reside in the greater Rochester area but be willing and able to travel
